Internet Explorer 2.0 is a web browser developed by Microsoft Inc, available for download in full install version for Windows platforms from legacy sources. This version of Internet Explorer was officially released on 1996-04-23 for public access and a brief summary of important updates and change log pertaining to this edition can be read below.

Internet Explorer 2.0 was released not only for Windows platform but also for Apple Mac OS. Initially launched with support for 12 languages including English, subsequent editions supported up-to 20 languages however it was not uniform through out all OS platforms. This version of IE supported DBCS, which is a character encoding algorithm in which all character including control characters are encoded in two bytes.

 Against Microsoft's expectations this release increased Microsoft's browser market share to meager 9% and subsequently this version was dropped from Microsoft development team paving the way for its successor Internet Explorer 3.0.
